Assia Cunego is a harpist who treads unique paths again and again.
She plays the harp in an exquisitely wide range of tone qualities, her musicality and interpretation are at the same time faithful to the original piece and highly individual. She applies many different self-developed techniques of playing and dampering that make her capable of an amazingly free, clean and versatile harp performance.
Assia's repertory reaches from baroque to classical music, from the Romantic to the modern and new music, even to jazz, free improvisation and sacral music.
Born 1983 in Italy she completed her harp diploma at the age of 18 with honors. She graduated, 20 years old, from the Master Class of Prof. Gisèle Herbet in Würzburg, Germany.
She won first prizes and scholarships at many international musical competitions. Ever since her 19th year she has been a jury member in various harp competitions. During her career in the arts she has already performed in 1800 solo concerts.
Since 2005 she regularly holds Master Classes in Germany and the Netherlands. In 2009 she founded the harpACademy for pupils and students, harp ensembles, competitions, workshops round about the harp. 2011 she opens a boarding school for harp students (www.harpACademy), the first of its kind.
Today Assia Cunego lives with her husband near Bremerhaven.
